If you haven’t already, make sure you head over to CCP’s YouTube channel and check out all the videos from the Alliance Tournament.

All the battles seem to be moving along fairly quickly and the announcers are doing a good job of letting you know what’s going on in the fight.

Congratulations to all the winners!

EVE Online Minimum Graphics Being Upped.

Results are in and CCP has made the decision as to what the new minimum graphics requirements are going to be. After surveying the player base the decision to move to a minimum of ShaderModel 2.

This makes me sad since I finally got it to where I could play a little bit on my MacBook 13″. Couldn’t really do much more than move around, but it was nice to be able to login and change skills or buy new ones and go pick them up from my laptop. Oh well …

Proof that the human gene pool sometimes needs a good does of chlorine.

Moron gives ISK seller 13,500 Euro’s. ISK seller doesn’t give buying ISK. ISK buyer sues ISK seller. ISK seller wins the verdict. ISK buyers scream heard round the world. World points and laugh at moron ISK buyer.

What if?

Was trolling around on the EVE forums when I ran into this post:

clicky

Apparently some new player got 800 million ISK sent to him by a stranger. He petitioned to ensure it wasn’t “dirty” ISK sent from a gold spammer or something on accident so it didn’t get taken away from him after spending it all. (Apparently in EVE they don’t ban you for buying ISK, they just take it away from you. So if you buy 1 billion ISK and spend it all, they’ll put you 1 billion ISK in the red. I can’t imagine trying to work your way out of that hole. It would be a long time to play without even being able to repair your ship or buy new mods. lol. Might as well just reroll.)

So, the question is … If you were a newbie and got a pile of money dumped on you, what would you do? Send it back? Spend it all on blackjack and hookers? Save it? Invest it?

I think I would totally be tempted to go hog wild and spend it on a ton of useless crap. I tend to be “that guy.” lol. I’ll spend a ton of money in games and take reduced stats so long as I look good. On the other hand, in EVE, you can’t really spend a lot of money as a newbie because there’s nothing to really buy. You’re limited on what you can use by what skills you have.

What would you do?

Totally off topic …

… but I wanted to share something.

I joined a biking club this week and went on my first ride this morning. It was a windy 19 degrees, so there was only a handful of us at the meet up. The group had something I wasn’t aware of. If you ride when it’s 32 degrees or lower, you get to be a member of their polar bear club and they give you a neat badge. Sort of like a RL archievement system! hehe ;)

Anyways, screen shot or it didn’t happen right?

Capsuleer – iPhone/iTouch App

Looks like it’s actually been around for awhile now, but it’s new to me so I wanted to pass it along.

Capsuleer – http://capsuleer.wordpress.com/

This is a great little app that you can download for your iPhone or iPod Touch. It using your limited API to watch the time left on training skills. You can download it for free from the “App Store.”

I checked out their website and it looks like they’re currently working on a new version that’s going to have a lot of new features and more functionality. If you’re able to use this cool little app, I’d definitely keep an eye on their progress. It looks like they have a lot of really cool features planned!

EVE Online: Apocrypha

Looks like this one is going to contain some cool PvE content. Read the official announcement in the link above. Not a lot of details yet, but the story line teaser they posted sounds like it’s going to have some very cool content.

Can’t wait!

iClone

•January 7, 2009 • 2 Comments

I got an iPod Touch for Christmas, so I’ve been playing around with a lot of the apps that are out there and playing around with the freebies. Yesterday I stumbled across a little program called iClone.

It’s a pretty awesome little program that using your EVE API information and lets you keep track of your characters training process, skills, POS, and more. Also has a cool route planner and an items database. It’s a free program and works very well. It has an easy way of importing your API information through a special contacts entry so you don’t have to type that monster in on your iPod Touch or iPhone.

Anyways, worth a look if you have an iPhone or iPod Touch!
